The Joy of Giving

Ever since I can remember in school and with my family in Mexico, I have always liked to volunteer. At school, I became the president and treasurer of my class.  At home, I would help my mother and sister with chores. I also loved participating in school dances because it made me happy to entertain people. To bring a smile on people’s faces made me happy.  It still makes me happy.

Giving is a natural part of my life but learning the middle ground of giving has being though in my life.  Learning to give without depleting my energy or allowing other people to deplete my energy has being a challenging balance.  Finding the balance in life has always being a struggle in my life. I find myself giving too much and then I feel burned out.  Nobody’s fault but mine.

Now after been a daughter of a single mother, sister to a brother and sister.  A friend, girlfriend, wife and now a mother of three. After many hours of meditation, self-care and giving so much to my community.  I can say with confidence that I have found a middle ground to most of the time. I LOVE helping YES this true and I LOVE empowering people YES that is true.  Many years of experience and the quote from Maya Angelou is that really got my attention “Be careful when a naked person offers you a shirt.” It has taken me a long time to write my website because I was not ready but finally I am.  I am dressed and I plan on keeping my clothing on. I can also help you find your clothing. What this quote mean is that you cannot trust someone to help you if they are not helping themselves. I have life experience, work experience and academic experience.

Sometimes we need a helping hand, wise soul without judgment to help us find the way or help us get dressed again.  My life was not easy but that has not stop me from figuring out the way out. Life is only happy if you accept the life you have in the present moment.  Then you have a vision and envision your life the way you want it. Then we follow with concrete steps toward your vision. We all need help at times to plan and envision the life we want to have. We cannot change anyone but we can definitely change our self.   Embrace your change. Life is always changing.
